How to Learn English - 3 Unbelievable Pieces of Advice You Can Implement Right Away.

How to Learn English - 3 Unbelievable Pieces of Advice You Can Implement Right Away.
Lesson 8: How to Learn English - 3 Unbelievable Pieces of Advice You Can Implement Right Away.

Hi!

Today, I've decided to tell you my story. Actually, you already know a lot about how it is possible to improve, and how we help our students. But this time, you will see how I improved my English, from the beginning to the end.

And I think this is the best way to learn, when you have somebody right beside you who you can ask for help, any time.

What do our readers say about this lesson?
"What an emotional and inspirational story. I greatly admired your effort and felt encouraged by your story. Thank you so much for your help and attention" - Le Tu Yen from South Africa

Lesson 8: How to Learn English - 3 Unbelievable Pieces of Advice You Can Implement Right Away.

How can I learn English? Each and every learner of English bumps into this question.
It's not a coincidence.

We all have different learning techniques. Some may enjoy reading, and that helps his or her improvement. Some just sit in front of the TV and watch it in English, and then understand the language perfectly (I know people like this.)

And other people enjoy being thrown into deep end, and visit an English speaking country like the United States or England.

That would be me. I can learn English, or any other language fast and brilliantly, if I travel to that country.

Of course it is not that simple. To travel there, stay there, study and work there, is costly. Not all of us have the opportunity to do that.

So what can you do when you have to study English at home? I'm going to share my ideas that helped me a lot in English learning, and made an incredible improvement in my English knowledge.

1. Read blogs and other sites or news which are important for you in English!

When MyEnglishTeacher.eu was launched I knew absolutely nothing about the online world. I didn't know how to make the website popular, or how to use social media.

At first, I started to look for information in my language, but I couldn't find enough information. So I had to check things in English.

Since then, I've read everything that interests me, that contains useful information for me, in English. One or two articles a day. I have made a tremendous improvement, as now, I can understand anything that I read. Isn't that what you want?

2. Just reading is not enough. You also have to speak!

After gathering all the necessary information and reading a lot, I had some thoughts and plans concerning how to make MyEnglishTeacher.eu popular. I started chatting with people, owners of partner websites and bloggers.

I corresponded a lot with others, and I do it to this day. It can happen through emails, Facebook comments or Twitter. These tools are all perfect for communication. Write comments or start your own blog about something that you are interested in. You should do it! Combine work with pleasure! :)

3. Communication in writing is different from live communication!

Yes I could solve a lot of things with correspondence. But there are some topics that are easier to discuss live. Live or through Skype. In this case, there is no solution other than speaking!

It is strange at first. You are afraid. Your heart is beating fast. But when it comes to your second live chat you begin to feel relaxed. And the third one really becomes an experience!

Then you happily realize that YOU'VE LEARNED TO SPEAK ENGLISH! :)

That's true. You have everything you need now. Vocabulary (you gathered this when reading in English).

You can utilize the words you've learned, as well as the grammar (you practised this with writing comments and blogging).

And finally, you speak with other people from different nations face to face, and you not only speak to them, but you also understand what they say. (You practised this at stage 3).

Congratulations! You've made it! If you follow my advice, you'll be able to speak English in a year. And this is what you wanted!

If you have any questions, feel free to reply to this email. I'm always glad to help you.

"How to Speak English Fluently" Free Online Course
Lessons 7: 5 Ways + 7 Amazing Websites to Improve Listening Skills

Hi! How are you today?

You are almost done with your "How to Speak English Fluently" online course. Reply to this email, and let me know which part of the course you found the most useful.

What one of our readers said about this lesson:-
"Thank you for your help.
This lesson you gave many interesting websites I never find in Google. I will try to keep listening with ESL-Cyber labs. I find this web suit me.
I'm very sorry that I could not find which one of your lesson (part) is the most useful. It is, because I found many lessons useful I have never learn!"

Lesson 7: 5 Ways + 7 Amazing Websites to Improve Listening Skills

No matter how long you have been learning English you can still find yourself in surprising situations, and meet dozens of novelties, especially when it comes to listening skills.

With the uprising trend of globalization, English has been reborn in many forms: different structures are used on the internet compared to those of real life conversations, business English has gained more importance, and it's quite possible that if you dial the number of a call centre for whatever reason, the person answering the phone (speaking in English) could be sitting in a country where they don't usually speak English!

It is better to be prepared to speak, not only with native speakers of the language, but to those who come from completely different parts of the world, and use English for their work.

Fortunately, there are a lot of great ways of improving your English listening skills. Let's take a closer look at them.

1. Learning English via Skype

This is not the first time I've suggested that you choose a teacher and try online classes. There are advantages and drawbacks too, but there is no doubt that it is probably one of the most useful ways to improve your listening skills. You don't even have to go that far. If you have foreign friends or colleagues use every opportunity to speak to them through Skype!

2. Listen to audiobooks!

Audiobooks are a great source of pronunciation practice and proper speech. And they also provide a pleasant way of spending your free time and learning effortlessly!

3. Watch serial dramas and movies!

I mean watch British and American serial dramas and movies in English! Search cinemas that show movies with subtitles! Don't wait until the next episode is dubbed! Subscribe to TV channels that broadcast your favourite serials, and if you buy the DVD edition, watch it in English. If you find it too difficult, use English subtitles at the same time! Recent statistics have shown that countries that broadcast the TV shows, movies and serial dramas with subtitles, have more citizens speaking foreign languages.

4. Attend English classes!

This seems pretty obvious doesn't it? But there is a difference between language classes. Stick to groups and teachers that only speak in English. If you cannot join a multinational class, or cannot afford to pay for a native English teacher, don't forget that you can learn from, and through the speech and mistakes of your classmates, even if they are from the same country.

5. Go online!

The internet has become a huge playground for English learners. I've collected some web pages for you that are full of listening practice. ESL-cyber labs is free with dozens of listening scripts pre and post listening exercises and with an online checker.

Or if you prefer a video as a listening task, visit Esolcourses.com, and select from the different topics listed there.

I also recommend that you learn English using English Central's amazing video materials. You will learn new words, improve your listening skills and your speaking as well.

Last but not least, Youtube is always at hand. If you feel like relaxing, for instance, search for your favourite song and find a version with lyrics and try to understand it.
